Thank you for your interest in Rate It Green. The following instructions describe how to register your organization with our directory and community as well as how to add your products and services so that our Members can best find what you offer and so that those who have worked with your organization might provide testimonials and share what they know.
Registering on Rate It Green:
• On the Home Page, top right, click "Register"
• At the next screen, click to register a company (you can also have an individual account with an identity you create. As a company admin, anything you post will show "[Your company name] - Company Rep")
• Select a new company, unless you're already in our system with what we internally call a "Limited" Listing (which means that a Rate It Green Team Member might have discovered your product or service, or that we received a Member Suggestion). To take over an existing company listing, simply click on the company name and submit. The remaining steps are the same as for new companies except that some basic information will already have been filled out. You can edit any of this information you like.
• The site will then direct you to create a Company Profile, after it also sends you a link to verify your email (for security)
• After this step, you can add products and services any time in any category we have, or you can suggest a new one whichIwe can create and work with you to place appropriately, if necessary. As these are entered into the system, you will see them at the footer of the site - it's fun to see these pop in.
Once you have items in the system, you can invite your clients to the site any time to post a review for you (please refrain from registering your own items). We do not charge a fee for registering, but we ask you to warn people that we do have a survey for individual members. The top reasons for this are:
• We are open to everyone, but we want to screen for members who are more likely to become active and ask or answer each other's questions. Their time is the "investment" community members make in joining Rate It Green. This also means we end up with a committed population of members who are sincere more likely share similar values. That committed group is what I have promised to gather/build and offer members.
• We want to know who people are so we can protect companies against frivolous ratings. A full registration process makes it easy for me to investigate an account in the event of a questioned rating.
• And finally, the demographic data people provide will help us understand the green building market demographic better and produce new and valuable market research. Research revenues will make Rate It Green as sustainable as the resources we host.
It is considerate and advisable to mention the registration and survey so no one will be surprised. People usually don't mind as long as they know.
